I’m Jaxk Talon, writer, backpacker, and lover of all things unknown. I have been lucky enough to visit over 25 countries, funding my trips by working various jobs in Sales, Service, and Education sectors. My travel motto is slowly, slowy as I like to take my time in a new place instead of rushing around trying to cram in as much as I can. I try to spend about a month in each country I visit (when I can afford the time) in order to try and get a feel for the place. I have just finished my first book, Same Same but Different which can be found here.
My website, travel-mode.com is a place for travelers to share stories and information. This is not your run-of-the-mill polished guidebook-type of stuff but raw, unfiltered stories and travel tips. This isn’t the place to find GPS links to the most popular rated restaurants in Hanoi or directions on how to get into Buenos Aires from the airport. This to be a place to read and write about real travel, the people you meet, the insane stuff you’ve seen, the stories you’ve acquired, whatever they may be, no matter how self-deprecating (or boastful) they may be. This is a place for backpackers who never book ahead, always ignore TripAdvisor, and constantly complain about getting off the beaten path and discovering the real parts of a country, yet always do this over beers with fellow travelers in jam-packed tourist traps.
Please comment on any of the posts to share your thoughts and opinion and drop me a line if you are interested in sharing some stories of your own!
